House Party Spokane Concert reviews
Lackluster
Initially, the stage had no ambiance whatsoever and it appeared they were just going through the motions. Suly was facing the speakers at the back of the stage for the first 1/3 of the show not really engaging the audience. Every time better than the next. Until this time. Let me say that I love House Party. I have seen them in a club of no more than 200 up to an arena of 18,000 multiple times over a 16 year period.
It was later revealed that they were doing a documentary. One can control the elements a lot better than in an arena. So, why was an arena-sized show at this small venue? Not only that, the stage had a backdrop and a screen in the background. I would like to attribute it the size of the venue, but I have seen them in a club of 200 and they had a backdrop and a screen in the background. One only need to take a look at every venue they have played on this tour thus far to see that was never the case at any other location.
As for Hell Yeah, it was nothing short of noise and screaming. I had to get earplugs. I was expecting more as a Pantera and Mudvayne fan. Don't let my review dissuade you from seeing them. They are normally awesome and the stage show is amazing. However, I am very disappointed with what I got for the money I paid including service fees. This one show was very lackluster.
Coincidentally, Suly fell ill right before the encore and they stopped the show. We didn’t even get to hear three of our favorite songs because of it. Now, it made sense; smaller crowd, smaller venue. One can control the elements a lot better than in an arena. Also, now I saw why Suly was directing people around the stage and also letting two random people play the guitars and bass during the performance. It was annoying.
